A Thomas Jefferson Education:
Mentoring the Classics
Endorsed by Oliver and Rachel DeMille
A HANDS ON WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
ON HOW TO MENTOR THE CLASSICS
“For learning requires a mentor—an Athena, a Virgil, a Beatrice—to lead and teach, guide and instruct . . . showing their charges how to learn, stepping back when the pupil begins to see and to understand on his own.” -- L. Cowan
You will learn principles and gain hands-on experiences in:
•Core and Love of Learning
•Transition to Scholar
•100 Teen Book List
•How to Read a Book
•Cycles of History
•Project TJED 1,000,000
-
•Colloquium on The Virginian and Pride and Prejudice
Strongly Suggested Preparation: The Virginian, Pride and Prejudice, A Thomas Jefferson Education, Leadership Education: The Phases of Learning and one Shakespeare Play of your choice. (These books are essential reads. We want you to get the most from this seminar experience. To do that, you will need to do your part by preparing properly. Those who really prepare in advance get so much more from the seminar. Those who have not prepared by completing all of the readings will be frustrated and will be the source of frustration for others. Seminars will be taught from the prospective that all attendees have prepared properly and that all readings have been completed.)
How can a generation that wasn’t mentored in the classics, mentor their own children in the classics? Do you want to help your children get a superb, leadership education… but just aren’t sure how?
